November Festival 2025

 Guru Nanak Jayanti – 5 November 2025

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. In 2025, this sacred occasion falls on 5th November. It is one of the most important festivals in the Sikh religion and is celebrated with immense devotion and reverence around the world.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 in Rai Bhoi Ki Talwandi (now Nankana Sahib, Pakistan). His teachings emphasized equality, humility, love, and devotion to one God. He challenged social divisions, caste discrimination, and ritualistic practices, and promoted the principles of "Naam Japna" (meditating on God’s name), "Kirat Karni" (honest living), and "Vand Chakna" (sharing with others).

The celebrations begin with Akhand Path, a 48-hour uninterrupted reading of the Guru Granth Sahib. Nagar Kirtans (religious processions) are organized where devotees sing hymns and display Sikh martial arts. On the day of Gurpurab, devotees visit Gurdwaras, participate in Kirtan, and enjoy Langar—a free community meal served to all, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.

Guru Nanak Jayanti is not only a spiritual occasion but also a reminder of timeless values of compassion, unity, and service to humanity. It inspires people to walk on the path of truth and selfless love, as shown by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day Festival – 24 November 2025

Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru of the Sikhs, is remembered as a champion of religious freedom, human rights, and justice. His martyrdom on 24 November 1675 holds great spiritual and historical significance, not only for Sikhs but for all who value the freedom of conscience.

On this day, communities across the world commemorate his supreme sacrifice. Guru Tegh Bahadur stood up against the forced conversions of Hindus under the Mughal regime, defending the right of every individual to practice their faith freely. Refusing to bow to tyranny, he chose death over compromise, becoming a beacon of courage and integrity.

In 2025, the Martyrdom Day falls on a Monday, 24 November. Gurdwaras will organize special prayers, kirtans (devotional hymns), and religious discourses. Langar (community meals) will be served to all, emphasizing the Sikh principles of equality, service, and humility. Many devotees will visit Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi, the site of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom.

This day also serves as a reminder for all to uphold values of tolerance, dignity, and moral courage in the face of oppression. Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice transcends religious boundaries and continues to inspire generations to speak out against injustice.

Let us honor his memory by fostering harmony, respecting diversity, and standing firm for what is right—no matter the cost.
